Have you ever found yourself longing for the sophistication that comes with adornment of a top hat upon your head? Do you find Abraham Lincoln’s style fashionable? Have you ever awkwardly giggled at the notion of the return of the “Gentleman’s Wig” to modern, professional fashion dress codes while secretly recognizing the totally awesome sophistication it brings? Well, you, my friend, besides having a strikingly odd mental thought process, are fancy.
Staring a surprisingly stylish stick figure straight from the margins of your 6th grade algebra lecture notes (and with a lush head of gloriously wavy hair, to boot), Fancy Pants Adventure: World 2 is the witty, strikingly stylish continuation of Brad Borne’s original Fancy Pants Adventure online platform, arcade game that is probably best described as “a bottle of quirky, fancy fun.”
Ever the munchie-enthusiast, Mr. Fancy Pants is ripped from the enjoyment of a relaxing round of Fancy Golfball when the prized trophy awaiting the sinking of his final putt, an ice cream cone, is yoinked (yes, it’s a word) by a dastardly, wicked, and unfortunately still cute, bunny rabbit who then (get this!) dives down his hole to revel in deliciousness of his despicable thievery.
Unable to sit by while this injustice unfolds before him, follow Mr. Fancy Pants down the rabbit hole (don’t worry, Johnny Depp is no where to be found down this rodent hole, thank God) to trounce curiously ginormous spiders, inconsiderately malevolent, armed mice and unfortunately useful, unsuspecting snails through 12 unexpectedly challenging levels of fancy fun (including 6 special guest-designed bonus levels including the AfroNinja level) while collecting bonus trophies and amassing flowery doodles (who doesn’t like a good flower doodle). The gameplay is easy to use yet challenging to really master and includes discovering all sorts of special acrobatic fancy feats (feats, not Feasts); I love a game that lets you discover the special tricks and abilities yourself while not specifically inhibiting the gameplay in the process.
Fancy Pants Adventure: World 2 is a fantastically challenging online platform, arcade game with excellent gravity-based game play (especially for a stick figure), which continues the witty exploits of World 1 while fully engaging enthusiast players for the entire post-holiday season flight from Cleveland to Seattle (mileage may vary).
